In the process of urbanization, garbage as the product of urban metabolism was once the burden of urban development, many cities of the world used to be surrounded by garbage. Today, garbage is considered the most potential and inexhaustible "city deposits" and is "misplaced resource." This is not only further and deepening recognition of garbage, but also the inevitable requirement of urban development.
Garbage is accompanied with human production and daily activities. Because of the limitation of environmental capacity, it is impos sible to bear unlimited emission of garbage. In order to maintain the sustainable development of cities, people should be more rational to treat and manage garbage. With making full use of resources as far as possible, much garbage as the "secondary source" entered a new cycle of production, thereby reducing garbage discharged into the environment eventually.
In recent years, government leaders paid high attention to the construction of garbage landfill sites in different areas, and increased investment. Operation model of garbage treatment innovated continuously. Firstly it showed in the continuously strengthened attention paid by different government leaders and the increased capital input year by year; secondly, market-oriented operation model achieved initial success; furthermore, depending on the progress of science and technology, technical content of garbage treatment increased continuously. Ministry of Commerce carried out the experimental work of renewable resources recycling system in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing four municipalities and 20 provincial capitals and provincial cities. Five years later in the experimental cities, more than 90% of recycling person will be brought into standardized management, more than 90% of communities will establish standard recycling sites, more than 90% of renewable resources will enter the designated market for the standardized deal and centralized treatment, recovery rate of main varieties of renewable resources is up to 80%, productive mental scraps will form centralized recycle—processing—regeneration recycling chain, at last industrialization of renewable resources recycling will come true.
Now China waste treatment industry faces some problems, such as the lagging of current management system, lagging of garbage collection and transportation way, lagging of treatment technology, low level, lacking of preferential wastes recovery policies, and affecting recycling of renewable resources in urban domestic garbage, etc. For this situation, China will continue to carry out garbage classified collection, improve technology of garbage treatment, perfect legal system, construct market operation system, and promote the garbage treatment toward industrialization.
The prospect of waste treatment industry is very broad.In the future, China will implement quantitative reduction, resource and harmlessness of garbage treatment to make economic development and environmental protection coordinative.
